Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran was a businesswoman, investor and speaker from the United States. She founded The Corcoran Group, a real estate brokerage located in New York City, which she sold to NRT for $66 million in 2001 and shortly thereafter exited the company. Corcoran has been a part of 12 episodes of ABC's Shark Tank seasons. In February of 2020 Corcoran had signed 53 deals, the biggest being a $350,000 investment that covered 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater (New Jersey) as the second child of ten from a working-class Irish Catholic family. Florence, her mother was an errand-taker. Her father, Edwin W. Corcoran Jr., bounced between jobs throughout Corcoran's childhood. At times, her family relied upon deliveries of food for free from a friendly local grocer. Corcoran remembers her father as one who occasionally consumed too much alcohol and did her mother a disservice and condescension, particularly after he'd consumed alcohol. Corcoran was a struggling pupil throughout her schooling. She later discovered that she was dyslexic. Corcoran attended an Catholic elementary school in her area and started the high school year in St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. Corcoran completed her studies at Leonia High School with a degree in English after not completing several classes in her first year of high school.
